Smoked Negroni
A smoky twist on the classic negroni
We thought we’d continue the Gin-uary trend (see what I did there?) with a twist on a classic negroni. We love playing with fire and thought we’d add it to our cocktail creations. These were delicious and full of booze. The perfect way to end the work week. Catch it on our livestream on our instagram.
Our Cup of Choice: Apex Whisky Glass
A classic negroni deserves a beautiful blown glass whisky glass. Our Apex Glass shows off the beautiful colour of the negroni. We love the way each drink shows through the glass in a different hue based on the colour of the glass.
Ingredients:
2 oz Monashee Spirits Ethos Gin
2 oz Campari
2 oz Sweet Vermouth
Dried Cedar Shavings
Start with your dried cedar shavings, and put them on a non flammable surface (we used a cedar plank for extra flavours.) Light your cedar shavings on fire, carefully, so that they start to smoke. You’re going to capture all the smoke with an upside down glass or jar. We used our Halcyon Jars because they had a lid we could contain the smoke with. If your glass/jar doesn’t have a lid then keep it upside down to capture all the smoke.
Leave your cedar smoke to the side. In a mixing carafe such as our Latitude Carafes, add all three of your alcohols to the mixing carafe and stir. Add your alcohol to your glass/jar with the smoke in it and give it a good stir. Swirling the glass also helps to incorporate the smoke into the alcohols. Pour the alcohol into your glasses over one big ice cube. We chose to use our Apex Whisky Glass in the picture above!
Garnish:
Orange Peel
Rosemary
Peel off a small piece of orange peel and run it face down around the rim of the glass to add a little extra orange flavour. I like to float the orange peel on top of the drink for a pop of colour. Want some added smokiness to this drink? Slightly char the edges of your rosemary and place on top of your drink for an extra smoky aroma.
Cheers
