Mystery March Week 2

Oh boy for this week’s Mystery March Cocktail Hour our staff member Meghan did not get the luck of the draw with her ingredients. It kept getting worse as she kept choosing items. We don’t know how but somehow she turned it around and stunned us with how delicious this margarita came out!!!

Her mystery ingredients were…

Alcohol: Fireball
Fruit: Grapefruit
Spice/Herb: Thyme
Wildcard: Hot Sauce
———

Our Cup of Choice: Halcyon Cup

We’re just a little obsessed with the beautiful jewel tones of the halcyon cups and we thought the soothing beach vibes would pair great with this spicy margarita!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz Tequila

  • 1/2 oz Fireball

  • 1/4 oz grapefruit juice (fresh squeezed)

  • 1 oz peach & honey hot sauce simple syrup

We knew that in order to make this drink a success that we really needed to choose our hot sauce carefully. We found a delicious (and local!) peach hot sauce by Stoke the Fire. To hide a little bit of the heat we used honey as our sugar base for this syrup. Add 1/2 cup of water, 1/3 cup of honey and 1 tbsp of peach hot sauce to a saucepan. Simmer for 3 minutes and let cool. We used one of our glass blown Citrus Reamers to make our fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.

Add your tequila, fireball grapefruit juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake it up for about 2 minutes or until the outside of the shaker is nice and cold. Pour over ice into your salt rimmed Halcyon Cup. Want a little more juice? Top the margarita with grapefruit juice for a sweeter drink.

Garnish:

  • Dehydrated Grapefruit Slices

  • Thyme

We made the dehydrated grapefruit slices in an oven on a super low temperature. Cut your grapefruit into thin slices and drizzle with a bit of the peach & honey hot sauce simple syrup. Add a few small pieces of the thyme and then roast slowly for about an hour at 250 degrees. Add the dried slices to the rim of your Halcyon Cup.

We added the thyme as a garnish to add an aromatic element to this drink. We slightly charred the thyme and placed it on top of the drink.

For a pretty crazy combination of ingredients this cocktail turned out pretty good. But don’t just take our word for it — try it out for yourself!!!

xoxo
