Blackberry Wine Spritzer

April Spritz - Blackberry, blood orange and white wine spritzer

As we move in to Spring it seems like the sun is shining extra bright — which means its also extra extra hot in the hot shop. We thought that a spritz-y cocktail would be the perfect way to cool down, and as always, a good excuse to have an after work beverage or two. Tyler kicked off our first week of April Spritz with a blackberry, blood orange and white wine spritzer. And yes we just drooled while typing this! Yum!!!

Our Cup of Choice: Colour Bomb Cup

This drink had a beautiful dark red purple colour that we really wanted to show off. Our colour bomb cup was the perfect choice with big spots of colour dotting the clear glass.

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz white wine

  • 1 oz blackberry syrup

  • Lime soda water

  • 1/2 oz fresh squeezed blood orange juice

This cocktail is built directly in the glass so start by adding ice into your Colour Bomb cup. Then add your wine — we added about 3 oz to each cup. The blackberry syrup we made ahead of time by mixing equal parts water and sugar and then adding the fruit and simmering for about 3 minutes. Add 1 oz of this syrup to your cocktail. The more you add the sweeter it will be. To make this drink a true spritz it needs to have some bubbles so top up the rest of your cocktail with some lime flavoured soda water. Add in the blood orange juice at the very end. Stir with a Big Eddy Glass Works stir stick and enjoy on a patio with some socially distanced friends.

Garnish:

  • Lime Wedges

Want a little more colour and citrus zip? Add a lime wedge to the rim of your glass.

This drink was so refreshing! I think we all finished our cocktails in record time. There’s nothing like a wine spritzer on a sunny afternoon after blowing glass all day.

xoxo
