Classic Lime Mojito

May-jito - Classic Lime Mojito

Mixed Up On: May 13th, 2022

The 2nd week of May-jito means we’re mixing up some cocktails before our Friday the 13th Parking Lot Party. Specifically Hunter (I) am mixing up a big batch of classic mojitos to share with all of the hands helping run our event! This recipe will mix up a batch of 4 in a pitcher, but you can adjust it for more or less as necessary.

Our Cup of Choice: Revelstacker

I chose this cup for multiple reasons: since I was making such a large batch, these were so easy to stack up and carry over to my mixing station, but also I picked bright and sunny colours so that they stood out in the chaos of our party, and finally because they are such a good shape and size for a quick mojito before getting back to work!

Ingredients:

  • Limes

  • Fresh Mint

  • Simple Syrup

  • White Rum

  • Soda Water

Since this is a quick, large batch, I made simple syrup using one cup of sugar and one cup of water, bringing this to a boil, then letting it cool. Another option for this is to muddle mint, sugar and lime juice in the bottom of the pitcher to add that sweet tone.

But for this batch, we mixed up lime wheels and fresh mint leaves in the bottom of the pitcher, then muddled these up. Next we added 4oz of simple syrup, 6 oz of white rum (singles for once), and some ice. Stir this up, this is the base of the cocktail. Next I added more ice to each cup, then poured out a portion of the mojito base from the pitcher. Top each glass with soda and give it a stir!

Garnish:

  • Lime Wheel

This lime will add a little pizzaz to your colourful cup, and mix it in to add more lime to your mojito!

This Classic Lime Mojito was just the right note to start our event off right! It also was the perfect drink to celebrate BEGW’s owner Leah’s birthday!
