Cherry Cinnamon Heart Old Fashioned

A Valentines Inspired Cocktail

February the unofficial month of love has us dreaming of romance and all things hearts. So we decided to put our hearts in our drink rather than on our sleeve with a sweet spin on an old fashioned. If you figure out a good technique for crushing these cinnamon hearts, let us know! We wanted a little kick and colour to this cocktail so we added a cinnamon heart rim. Plus it’s fiery February so why not bring the heat in both flame and flavour.

Our Cup of Choice: Short Halcyon Cup

We wanted an extra pop of pink for this valentines cocktail so we chose our short pastel halcyon cups.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Bulleit Bourbon

  • Elderflower Cherry Schnapps by Elder Bros Farms

  • Bourbon Brown Sugar Syrup

  • Lemon Wedge

  • Cinnamon Hearts, crushed

We started this cocktail by rimming the glass first. Take your lemon wedge and run it around half the rim of the halcyon cup. Dip the half in to your crushed up cinnamon hearts! Add one big ice cube to your halcyon cup.

We built this drink in one of our latitude carafes. Add ice, bourbon, elderflower cherry schnapps and bourbon brown sugar syrup to the carafe and then stir. We used one of our Deluxe Glass Stir Sticks. Pour the chilled cocktail in to your rimmed Halcyon Cup.

Garnish:

  • Lemon Wedge

  • Cinnamon Stick

You probably don’t have map gas handy in your kitchen like we did in the glass hot shop. No worries a simple lighter will work (although using a torch is so much more fun!) Light your cinnamon stick on fire on one end and then douse the flame right in your drink. Bonus — now you have a cinnamon stir stick for your drink!
